Greeting

As artistic director of Börzsöny Baroque Days, I can present this webpage of our sixth festival to You. Over the years the festival has crystallised its scales of values, which inspire this year’s programmes as well. We endeavour to draw representatives of distant styles into the focal point of early music. Thus one of the performers will be a renowned young jazz saxophonist, Dániel Váczi. Many contemporary composers are inspired by medieval, renaissance and baroque traditions, and one of our concerts will also include pieces of modern music, two of which will be first performances. You will experience the encounter of different fields of music at the opening concert: Villő Folk Vocal Ensemble and Voces Æquales perform ancient Hungarian folk hymns and Gregorian chants to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We are pleased to welcome the famous violinist, Márta Ábrahám, and to be able to hear musical rarities from the Renaissance played by Sebastian Consort at our festival again. Finally, you can enjoy the unique Slavic Orthodox male choir sound represented by Saint Ephraim Byzantine Male Choir. And two novelties: a Baroque Mass, which will be performed in the course of a Tridentine Rite Mass and an exhibition of icons on the concert venues. We hope to greet You as one of our guests at the events among the hills.
